COVID-19

As California and the nation confront the impact of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, I want to update you on Spectrum Photography's response to the evolving situation, this is as of March 19, 2020.

The safety of my family, my clients, and their families is crucial to me and in how I conduct business. Given that I work with newborn babies, my business has always followed a strict protocol of frequent and rigorous cleaning and disinfecting in the studio.

As the world gets accustomed to greeting with nods and toe taps instead of handshakes and hugs, photographers need to adapt as well. Based on our current understanding, the novel coronavirus can live on plastic or stainless steel surfaces for up to 72 hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and in the air for up to three hours.

Additionally, it is important that you know the studio is not open to the public and is by appointment only.

Once the Shelter in Place has been lifted, below are the measures adopted in light of COVID-19
  • We book sessions 24 to 72 hours apart to sanitize studio surfaces, props, and blankets.
  • We offer non-contact, verbal-only, parent guided posing for clients that prefer limited physical contact.
  • I wear medical grade gloves
  • We pay attention to what we touch during the shoot, taking frequent breaks to sanitize hands thoroughly.
  • We have the studio cleaned by professionals wearing protective gear, and air the space out well before clients arrive.
  • We use hospital-grade disinfectants that are safe for newborns.
  • We conduct all client and internal meetings remotely, and use the studio for photoshoots only.
  • Clients remove shoes before entering the studio and encouraged to use available hand sanitizer.
  • NO SICK RULE: clients may not come to the studio if they have any symptoms such as a fever, cough, cold, runny nose, chills, or symptoms suspected to be associated with allergies (we request that symptoms have subsided for at least a week.)
  • We remain flexible and accommodating on refund and rescheduling arrangements.
  • We do not charge cancellation or rescheduling fees.
  • If myself or anyone in my family (husband and two boys) have any illness, I will reschedule our session.
  • We plan to install a HEPA filtration system proven to capture particles down to 0.003 microns; 10 times smaller than a virus.
We will continue to monitor the situation, implement best practices, and respond to your concerns and suggestions.

I am looking forward to everyone being healthy and able to move about as you wish. I miss all of my clients and can't wait to see everyone back in the studio and in the fields having photo sessions again.

Warmly,

Karen De Jager
