A Team Effort Creates a Beautiful Wedding

Ranch at little hills wedding

No wedding can take place without numerous people taking on the various tasks that are needed to execute this special day. Often, you think about the bride and groom and their family and friends who have so much to do to prepare for a wedding day.

Part of most people’s weddings includes hiring a photographer and other vendors to help bring the vision of their wedding day to life and to capture the memories. Not only was I honored to be included in Robin and Ryan’s wedding day, but it was such a great wedding where all the vendors worked in unison behind the scenes to ensure the couple could enjoy their celebration.

Prior to the wedding day at The Ranch at Little Hills, there was a lot of planning and prep-work where family, friends, and even co-workers were involved. While that’s often common, what I see less of is a unified team of vendors working together; when it does happen, we can all work as a team to make the couple’s dream wedding a reality.

Prior to their wedding, Robin and I walked their venue and the hotel where they would get ready to help visualize the day and to try and iron out details to avoid any issues. This helped with both Robin and Ryan being able to enjoy their wedding and not worry about tiny details on the day; they knew that we all had it covered.

I certainly want every wedding to be special and have the moments captured beautifully, but this one felt even more special. I grew up with the bride, and she is also a teacher where both of my sons attended preschool. After 6 years of Robin dating her boyfriend Ryan, he proposed on February 6, 2016, at Ciera Steakhouse in the Mont Bleu Hotel in South Lake Tahoe. Having a personal connection with a couple makes the day that much more special for me.

The location the couple chose was gorgeous; The Ranch at Little Hills partners with the Regional and State Parks to offer weddings in the rolling hills of San Ramon. The Ranch at Little Hills has been in business for over 30 years and has served over 10,000+ events. They have 25 acres of open land. Robin and Ryan had both the ceremony and reception at The Ranch at Little Hills, and it provided a beautiful backdrop for all the day’s photos. Handmade table numbers, guest book/photo booth chalkboard signs were created by Ruth, a co-worker of Robin's, and allowed for extra special touches.

Robin's favorite color is pink and she knew that needed to be the color theme of her wedding; her two sisters and sister-in-law all wore shades of pink when they stood at her side at the altar. Ryan’s brother, brother-in-law, and cousin also had a touch of pink by wearing pink bow ties, and the groom wore pink and grey socks. Valarie Rome-Jessup from A Loves in Bloom, created beautiful floral arrangements and bouquets that complemented the location and colors, and
Stacy Pawlakos from Sherilynn Jade Salon in Lafayette did the makeup for the bride.

To add even more fun to the ceremony, Robin and Ryan had a total of eight (!!) ring bearers and flower girls; this cute group was the largest I’ve seen at a wedding! Robin is the youngest of the three girls and was walked down the aisle by her dad, wearing a hand-made veil that her classroom assistant, Robin, made special for her big day. The couple chose to skip a “first look” so it was at the ceremony that Ryan and Robin saw each other for the first time. It was such a touching moment.

The officiant of the ceremony was Mike Cohn, a family friend, who made the ceremony so special. The couple had the breaking of a glass as part of their ceremony, and as the ceremony concluded, guests blew bubbles to celebrate the new couple. Small details such as this one came together seamlessly with the support of family, friends, and vendors.

At the reception, the couple had a photo booth which was a fun way to give the guests a gift to remember the wedding, and they were able to keep a copy for their memory book which included a place for guests to write messages to the couple. Pragya from Sweet Mac's Cakes in Martinez created a beautiful and delicious cake, and Jason from Denon & Doyle was a wonderful DJ throughout the reception, facilitating a traditional chair dance for the couple, and lots of great music for the guests. The day came together beautifully thanks to everyone involved.

And as a final special memory, Robin and Ryan now share an anniversary date with her sister; they didn’t realize this until after the wedding date was set, and they are so happy that it happened this way.
